Kapolda of Lampung, Irjen Pol Helfi Assegaf, provides an explanation of the case of human trafficking involving minors.
progresifjaya.co.id, LAMPUNG – The Polda of Lampung General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) has successfully dismissed a case of alleged human trafficking (TPPO) involving a child victim.
The Kapolda of Lampung, Irjen Pol Helfi Assegaf, explained the termination of the case, accompanied by Lampung Governor Rahmad Mirzani Djausal and Bandar Lampung Mayor Eva Dwiana, in the Siger Long lobby of the Polda of Lampung Headquarters on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
Irjen Pol Helfi explained, that the chronology of the case involved a suspect with the initials SAS (17 years and 11 months), who allegedly invited and recruited the child victim to work as a therapist in Surabaya with the promise of a salary of Rp2 million per week. Meanwhile, there are two victims in this case, R (15 years old) and BAA (14 years old).
“The suspect SAS’s modus operandi was to offer a job as a therapist to a minor victim. The victim was persuaded to travel to Surabaya and given a fake ID card to facilitate the victim’s travel and employment,” said Kapolda Helfi Assegaf.
Based on the investigation, the victim was taken by suspect SAS from Bandar Lampung to Surabaya on April 11, 2026. The victim was then placed at a spa in the Surabaya area to work as a therapist.
The case came to light after the victim’s family received information about her whereabouts in Surabaya and asked to be sent home because she was afraid.
However, the victim’s family was demanded Rp10 million by suspect SAA to send the victim home.
The Polda of Lampung Criminal Investigation Directorate finally took action to stop suspect SAS’s actions. After the suspect was arrested, evidence was also recovered, including the victim’s identity documents, screenshots of WhatsApp conversations, proof of flight ticket reservations, a suspected fake ID card, and a cellphone belonging to the suspect. Meanwhile, both victims were safely evacuated without incident.
Furthermore, Kapolda Helfi also reminded the public, especially parents, to increase supervision of their children. He also cautioned against job recruitment schemes with promises of high salaries that could potentially lead to human trafficking.
And if they witness or experience a crime, the public is also encouraged to immediately report it to the police or call the Polri hotline 110 for prompt action.
