progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Two suspects of a snatch theft in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, whose incident went viral on social media, were arrested by the Polda Metro Jaya’s Robber Hunter Team. The perpetrators targeted a woman walking along Jalan Senayan Bawah, Kebayoran Baru, on Sunday, May 17, 2026.

The two suspects robbed the woman, who was a guest at a hotel near Senayan Bawah. The victim was walking alone on the deserted street.

CCTV footage of the snatching went viral on social media. The two cell phone snatchers were arrested along with four other suspects.

Two of the six suspects, ZR and AH, had their legs shot because they resisted arrest and endangered the public.

“For three consecutive days, we have taken firm and measured action while adhering to the principle of respecting human rights,” said the Director of Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Iman Imanuddin, as reported on the Instagram account of the Detective Mobile (Resmob) Sub-Directorate of the Polda Metro Jaya’s Criminal Investigation Directorate, @resmob_pmj, on Friday, May 22, 2026.

The two mugging perpetrators, who are currently detained at the Polda Metro Jaya, are being charged under Article 479 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Crime of Theft with Violence. The maximum sentence is 9 years in prison.
