Polda Metro Jaya Apprehend Three Suspects in Fatal Mob Attack on Bambang Setiawan

A press conference held by the Polda Metro Jaya General Criminal Investigation Directorate regarding the arrest of three suspects involved in the mob assault that resulted in the death of a mirror vendor named Bambang Setiawan.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Polda Metro Jaya have successfully apprehended three suspects involved in the fatal mob attack on Bambang Setiawan (59), a mirror vendor.

As previously reported, Bambang was assaulted by an unidentified mob that arrived on the scene on August 27, 2026.

Polda Metro Jaya Director of General Criminal Investigation, Kombes Pol Iman Imanuddin stated, that the three suspects have been identified by the initials FP (23), DS (33), and DDS (29).

“Based on the results of examinations, witness testimonies, expert statements, and other evidence, we have named three suspects: FP (23), DS (33), and DDS (29),” said Kombes Pol Iman during a press conference at the Polda Metro Jaya Headquarters in South Jakarta on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

He stated, that the mob attack occurred on August 27 at approximately 22:46 WIB (Western Indonesia Time) on Jalan Raya Pejompongan.

During the investigation, police questioned 16 witnesses.

Investigators also seized several pieces of evidence from the crime scene, including a CCTV DVR unit, six pieces of wood, and eight stones.

A flash drive containing video footage was also seized for digital forensic analysis.

The video footage originated from recordings circulated on social media as well as data retrieved from the CCTV DVR.

Additionally, investigators collected suspected latent fingerprint samples from the pieces of wood and stones found at the scene.

Investigators also seized five glass tumblers and eight plates. These items were processed to compare any fingerprints found on them with fingerprints discovered on the objects allegedly used by the perpetrators.

“We have also seized five glass tumblers and eight plates as evidence,” said Kombes Pol Iman.

“We did this to cross-reference the fingerprints found on those plates and glasses with the fingerprints found on the objects allegedly used by the perpetrators to commit the assault,” he added.

The visum et repertum (forensic medical examination report) for the victim, obtained from Kramat Jati Polri Hospital, was also secured as evidence. (Bembo)
