progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Polda Metro Jaya’s Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) has formed a ‘Thug Hunter Team’ ready to operate 24/7 to secure Jakarta and its surrounding areas. This team will be deployed at all levels, starting with the police sector (polsek), then the police resort (polres), and then within the Ditreskrimum.

“We will deploy the thug hunter team throughout the Polda Metro Jaya’s jurisdiction,” said the Director of Criminal Investigation at the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Iman Imanuddin, on Friday, May 15, 2026.

He stated, that the Polda Metro Jaya’s Ditreskrimum must swiftly respond to the numerous robbery incidents that have gone viral on social media. All criminal incidents within the Polda Metro Jaya’s jurisdiction must also be responded to and followed up immediately. Therefore, the ‘Thug Hunter Team’ was formed as a security solution.

Kombes Pol Iman stated, that based on the mapping of cases of violent theft (curas), aggravated theft (curat), and motor vehicle theft (curanmor), many occur in the buffer zones of Bekasi, Depok, and Tangerang.

“This is what we are focusing on, as we are working to uncover and suppress the intentions and opportunities of these perpetrators,” he said.

Furthermore, the Polda Metro Jaya is also collaborating with social media activists to share information. This collaboration is intended to provide a faster response to incidents.

“Hopefully, all of these efforts can provide a sense of security for the people of Jakarta,” he added.
